A legal document establishing the institution in Brussels is the Resolution of the Regional Parliament of the Lodzkie Region No. XIV/173/2003 dated 2 September 2003 on the establishment of the Representative Office of the Lodzkie Region in Brussels. Resolution No. 590/03 of the Board of the Lodzkie Region dated 9 September 2003 on amending the Organisational Regulations of the Marshal’s Office of the Lodzkie Region approved the establishment a separate body within the Representative Office, called the Regional Office of the Lodzkie Region in Brussels, under the direct authority of the Marshal of the Lodzkie Region.
On 31 October 2003 an understanding on cooperation was signed between the Lodzkie Region and the City of Lodz regarding the joint management and financing of the Regional Office of the Lodzkie Region in Brussels. This understanding defined the manner of cooperation between these two institutions as regards the Office’s activity by establishing the City of Lodz Section within the Regional Office of the Lodzkie Region in Brussels, managed by a representative of the City of Lodz delegated by the President. The scope of financing of the Office’s activity by both partners was also agreed, with 55% of financing provided by the Marshal’s Office and 45% provided by the City of Lodz Office.
Since 1 July 2010, the function of the Director of the Regional Office of the Lodzkie Region in Brussels was assumed by Mr Marcin Podgórski.
